it’s time to leave the capsule if you dare

My Space Boss was about to fire me when I broke my arm. He didn’t, because he didn’t want to kick me while I was down. Apparently, my attitude has been bad and I’ve treated people badly when they didn’t deserve it (he wouldn’t tell me who or give me any examples) and the space bosses are generally unhappy with me for a large variety of reasons. The only reason I still have a job today is because I dislocated my shoulder. Huh. How about that.

I do believe I’ve left the yellow brick road entirely.

  1. WTF? — does this mean that he’s giving you advance notice of his intention to fire you when you’re all better? Why the hell would he make a statement like that? Does he think your attitude is gonna get “better” because he’s threatened you? (Yeah, that *always* works.) Yer Space Bosses suck, babes. I’m sorry. :(

  2. So…they’ve made you do a job that’s not yours, bascially said “suck it up, we’re not hiring”, and now give you vague “you do bad things, but guess what they are!” crap? Man! They sure know how *not* to kick you when you’re down :/
    That sucks. :(

  3. And they weren’t going to, you know, WARN YOU or anything so that you could “improve your attitude”? What dicks! Jeesus, that’s terrible management. I still say drop a time to Revenue Canada — you aren’t even eligible for EI because you’re a contractor, but you should never have been one. Kick up a stink, yo!

  4. Hi, I lurk but don’t often comment. I just wanted to say good luck with getting a new job, and that’s in a better company. One that *won’t* go all out to screw you over, shove you into a role you don’t want to be in and then bitch because you don’t want to be in it.

I’ve been having problems with this myself lately, so i know how it feels. I hope you find something better, and fast.

  5. Not that I’m all about revenge or anything… but I partially am. *If* they do fire you, you should either A) file for EI even though you were a contractor, or B) Complain to the gov agency in charge of looking after employment practices.

Doing either will trigger a review to see if you actually were an employee or not, and when you are found to have been one, they will be in much trouble with the government and revenue Canada. It will teach them a costly lesson to never be cheapskates again.

Sounds like it’s time to find something new and awesome.

  6. Recent lurker, first time poster.

Gosh, you got saddled with a job you hate, were given no hope you’d ever be able to leave it, got forced out of doing something you were actually enjoying so you could spend more time doing what you hated, and THEY CLAIM YOU HAD A BAD ATTITUDE????????

What Amanda said. Go after those jerks any way that you can.
