and you ain’t no friend of mine

I had to unfriend (defriend? antifriend?) someone on Facebook today, and I feel kind of weird about it. She posted a huge rant about the evils of Planned Parenthood, including such gems as “hey women you have a choice to not open your legs or wait until marriage instead of just killing kids”, and I don’t have time to deal with the rage or disbelief or just plain disgust I feel in response. I do not have time for pro-life hate mongering freaks in my life, so instead of getting into a fight about it I just chose to unfriend her and move on.

I respect that people can have different opinions, but everyone has a limit.

What a downer of a post to end another successful NaBloPoMo on, but them’s the breaks.

  1. I think someone saying “just killing kids” would probably lead me to un/de/anti-friend someone too. That makes it sound like people are getting pregnant on purpose just so they can get abortions. Gah.

  2. Yeah I’d do the same thing. I don’t want to hear that either, and I don’t want to be associated with someone who writes things like that.

I often wonder if women who say “you have a choice to not open your legs” are women who haven’t had good sex? I mean, I have, and I choose *to* open my legs if good sex is forthcoming (npi).

  3. I think it’s the logical thing to do.

Back when I was a blog addict, I had to stop reading a couple of blogs when the writers talked about how they physically disciplined their kids. It wasn’t a big dramatic gesture of judgment, it was just… I couldn’t handle it and I was glad I didn’t HAVE to.

  4. That was the gist of the problem – Planned Parenthood is making gift certificates available, which women will obviously use as a free pass for an abortion as opposed to getting checkups or birth control. I mean hell, if someone gave me a gift card for Shopper’s Drug Mart and said “use this to buy birth control that you otherwise cannot afford”, OBVIOUSLY I would march right up to the counter and say HEY YOU GIVE ME AN ABORTION NOW PLZ. *OBVIOUSLY*.

  5. Ugh. I decided to Google “planned parenthood gift certificates”, and the first 10 responses were all “Kill a Child for Christmas”, “Perfect gift for the baby killer on a budget”, and “The tragedy is that almost 6,000 fewer children will be celebrating a first Christmas this year because they were aborted in Planned Parenthood’s Indiana clinics,” said Mike Fichter, president and CEO of Indiana Right to Life.”

Seriously, fuck you guys. Fuck you so hard. Words cannot describe how unbelievably horrible I find these people.
