big city adventure: vancouver

I have a secret weakness: silly Shockwave games. I’ve played almost all of them, usually finishing them in one sitting. I currently have about 30 of them installed on my hard drive. Shut up, okay.

New ones come out on Tuesdays, so I went to the website to check out this week’s offerings. Imagine my surprise when I found this:

Big City Adventure: Vancouver

It’s a “hidden object” game, where you have to find a list of random crap in a scene. There have been other Big City Adventures like San Francisco and Seattle, but this is the first one on Canadian soil.

As far as Shockwave representations of our city go, it’s actually fairly accurate:

not shown: hastings and main

The game takes you to various locations around the city:

a very whitewashed version of robson street

hey, i know that place

Famous Vancouver landmarks make an appearance:

lies, all lies

My favourite, though, is how the family tries to blend in:

it's like looking in a mirror

Check out the rest of the pictures on my Flickrs, and grab the game for yourself. It’s *weird* to see Vancouver as a video game, although I probably shouldn’t be surprised – it’s not as though this is the first time:

it's-a me! i mean, mario!
